Dear Friars Club Committed Community,

In our effort to comply with Governor DeWine’s statewide order and to take every precaution in doing our part in helping to slow the community spread of COVID-19, Friars Club has postponed its 2020 Annual Fundraising Dinner scheduled for Friday, April 3rd. Our Friars Club Dinner Committee and staff are monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely as we consider the specifics surrounding the postponement of our Annual Dinner and will share the new date of the Annual Dinner very soon.

We appreciate your patience during this time of uncertainty and we hope you’ll join us for our 2020 Annual Fundraising Dinner, which is our biggest fundraiser of the year, on our rescheduled date to be announced soon. Please understand that we have had to close our doors to our athletes, guests and prospective renters for at least the next three weeks. This greatly impacts our budget, as a large portion of our income is from program/league fees, entry fees, concessions, and rentals. We are at a time when we need our Friars Club committed community more than ever to continue to ensure that Every Kid has a Chance to Play! Please take a moment to Donate through our website to help us continue to give the children in our community a safe place to play and make a real difference!

We wish happiness and good health to you all. Please review the information and the link below for a message for the Center for Disease Control.

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC): “Early information out of China, where COVID-19 first started, shows that some people are at higher risk of getting very sick from this illness. This includes:

  • Older adults
  • People who have serious chronic medical conditions like:
    • Heart disease
    • Diabetes
    • Lung disease

There are everyday precautions that should be taken to help with COVID-19 as well as dealing with the common flu.  These precautions include the following:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Clean your hands often.  Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing, or having been in a public place. If soap and water are not available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
  • Avoid touching your face, nose, eyes, etc.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or cough into your elbow and wash hands after.
To the extent possible, avoid contact with high-touch surfaces in public places – elevator buttons, door handles, handrails, handshaking with people, etc. Use a tissue or your sleeve to cover your hand or finger if you must touch something.
  • Clean and disinfect your home to remove germs: practice routine cleaning of frequently touched surfaces (for example tables, doorknobs, light switches, handles, desks, toilets, faucets, sinks & cell phones). Avoid sharing personal household items like cups, dishes, and utensils. These should be washed after each use.
  • Avoid crowds, especially in poorly ventilated spaces.

As we move forward, we will try our best to stay on top of the situation and keep you as informed as possible.

Stay safe and stay healthy!
